Blofeld's Cat from
James Bond films From Russia With Love, Thunderball,

and Diamonds are Forever, The Spy Who Loved Me, Never Say

First appearance of Ernst Stavro Blofeld's white Persian cat
From Russia With
Love 1963 ERNST
STAVRO BLOFELD
Blofeld was actually played by Anthony Dawson (who was Professor
Dent in Dr No) and his voice was dubbed by Eric Pohlman.
Interestingly, it can be seen that Blofeld has hair, in contrast to
the bald persona that would become famous. Blofeld's trademark white
cat (which is never named) is established here. |

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)
Ernst Stavro Blofeld
Played by: Telly Savalas
Description: Blofeld returns in On Her Majesty's Secret
Service, this time played by Telly Savalas of Kojak fame.
Under the cover of Count de Bleauchamp, Blofeld has a plan to use
innocent girls as "Angels of Death" by giving them deadly
germs to bring to their respective countries. If the world does not
heed to his ransom, he will begin the systematic extinction of all
species on earth. Bond stops him, of course, but after breaking his
neck on a bobsled, Blofeld gets his revenge and helps murder Tracy. |

JOB DESCRIPTION
Bacteriological warfare scientist (Count in his spare
time)
EMPLOYER
Self (still the head of SPECTRE)
PHYSICAL PECULIARITY
A bald pate and no ear lobes
MOST MEMORABLE DIALOGUE
(to Bond explaining his latest threat) “Total
infertility in plants and animals, not just disease in a
few herds Mr Bond or the loss of a single crop, but the
destruction of a whole strain – forever throughout an
entire continent. If my demands are not met I shall
proceed with the systematic extinction of whole species
of serials and livestock all over the world.”
TRIES TO KILL 007
by burying him forever (fat chance) in an avalanche with
his bride-to-be Tracy.
MEETS HIS MAKER
Our Jimbo slips up yet again, leaving all that we hold
precious at the potential mercy of the man with the cat.

Diamonds Are
Forever 1971
Diamonds are Forever (1971)
He's back in the gray suit, he has silver hair, and I can't
remember if he had earlobes or not. He was said to have gone
through plastic surgery to change his appearance, but he also
had various henchmen altered to pose as look-alikes as well.
Interesting tidbit: Charles Gray played an intelligence
officer in You Only Live Twice, making him one of the only
actors to play multiple roles in different Bond films. |

JOB DESCRIPTION
Diamonte laser satellite wielder
EMPLOYER
Self (Still MD of SPECTRE – if not a little more camp than
usual!)
PHYSICAL PECULIARITY
None
MOST MEMORABLE DIALOGUE
“Tiffany my dear, we’re showing a bit more cheek than
usual aren’t we?” “Such nice cheeks too – if only they
were brains.”
TRIES TO KILL 007
by having him gassed in an elevator and buried alive in a
pipeline being constructed in the Nevada desert.
MEETS HIS MAKER
Another sloppy job by 007. Is Blofeld dead or alive? |
For Your Eyes Only (1981)
|
The body belonged to John Hollis, who
later went on to fame and fortune as Lobot
in Empire Strikes Back. The voice was done by Robert Rietti,
who also dubbed in the voice for the actor who played Largo in
Thunderball. Oh, and he was also in the Third Man. Small world |
