Sony is set to debut its latest global product ad campaign this Friday in
which Daniel Craig will reprise his most famous role to coincide with the latest
film in the long running Bond franchise, Skyfall.
Intelligence Gathered will showcase a range of Sony’s hi-tech products,
including the Xperia smartphone, Xperia tablet, VAIO laptops and Bravia TVs via
both off and online advertising – many of which are incorporated in the film
itself.
A wider narrative will tie these disparate gadgets together in which Craig
infiltrates a hi-security compound whilst a mystery woman tracks his every move
courtesy of the Sony kit.
The 60 and 30 second spots will debut across all channels this Friday and
includes a prime-time spot on X-Factor. It will also run on cinema and social
media.
Sony Europe’s head of marketing Gildas Pelliet said: “Bond is the smartest
of the smart. He demands the best.”
“It's vital that he has the absolutely highest quality devices supporting,
connecting and enabling action when he needs it most. Whether he's tracking a
villain, calling M or checking his GPS to find the quickest route out of trouble,
it's Bond and technology all working together, totally converged and connected.”
“Our latest suite of Sony’s products in the film and the TV advertising
campaign are not only the perfect fit for both Bond and SKYFALL, but also the
perfect way to show them in action.”
The campaign was created by the Portland, based advertising agency
Wieden+Kennedy.

Toronto, October 30, 2012 – Daniel Craig will
reprise his role as MI6 secret agent James Bond in a new global product
advertising campaign from Sony this fall. The campaign celebrates Sony’s
close partnership with the James Bond franchise, and the theatrical
release of SKYFALL™, the 23rd Bond adventure, on November 9,
2012.
Launching today, the integrated ‘INTELLIGENCE GATHERED’ Sony campaign will feature a selection of Sony’s innovative connected products, including the Xperia™ T smartphone and Xperia™ Tablet, VAIO laptops and BRAVIA TVs in on and offline creative advertising. A range of these products, including the Xperia T smartphone, can be seen on screen in SKYFALL. The storyline of the 60 and 30-second ‘INTELLIGENCE GATHERED’ commercials see James Bond infiltrate a heavily guarded compound, efficiently dispatching adversaries as he advances toward the control room. Bond's movements are followed by a mystery woman on BRAVIA screens, VAIO laptops, Xperia Tablets and the Xperia T smartphone – demonstrating the seamless communication capabilities of the innovative devices as they gather and collate information and intelligence instantly for the increasingly concerned observer. The control room doors part, and in walks 007. He joins the mystery woman at a table asking, enigmatically: "Looking for someone?” proving only James Bond has the cunning to outsmart Sony’s technology. The integrated campaign will be supported by the online Sony Store and retail locations across Canada in addition to Sony’s websites around the world and online platforms including Facebook and Twitter. “Bond is the smartest of the smart. He demands the best,” said Tony Smith, SonyCanada’s Vice President of Marketing Communications. “It's essential that Bond has the highest quality devices supporting, connecting and enabling action whether he's tracking a villain, calling M or checking his GPS to find the quickest route out of trouble. It's Bond and technology all working together, totally converged and connected.” BRAVIA TVs, VAIO laptops and Xperia Tablet and Xperia T smartphone products all appear in the campaign and are available from store.sony.ca . “Our latest suite of Sony’s products in the film and the TV advertising campaign are not only the perfect fit for both Bond and SKYFALL, but also the perfect way to show them in action,” said Tony Smith. Daniel Craig is back as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007 in SKYFALL, the 23rd adventure in the longest-running film franchise of all time. In SKYFALL, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost. The film is from Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment; directed by Sam Mendes; produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli; and written by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade and John Logan. The ‘INTELLIGENCE GATHERED’ campaign was created by the Portland, Ore.-based advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy. DisplayThe Sony S Series 15's 15.5-inch 1920 x 1080 display with IPS technology offers superb color and contrast. As we watched a trailer for the next James Bond flick, "Skyfall," shadowy corridors looked like deep pools of black ink, while Daniel Craig's blue eyes sparkled like twin sapphires. The hig-resolution display also made viewing websites a joy. We were able to see much more content above the fold on sites such as laptopmag.com, CNN.com and NYTimes.com than we could on other notebooks with lower resolution screens. Viewing angles on the S Series 15's display were equally appealing. We were able to watch videos and scroll web pages from a 45-degree angle without noticing any color distortion or washout. And with a brightness rating of 270 lux, the S Series 15's display proved to be brighter than the category average of 259 lux, and above the Acer Aspire M5's 158 lux. AudioOne of our biggest problems with Sony's previous version of the VAIO S Series 15 was its poor audio performance. Unfortunately, Sony has once again saddled an otherwise good multimedia machine with lackluster audio performance. The laptop's two Intel High Definition Audio speakers made songs we regularly listen to sound almost unrecognizable. While listening to Killswitch Engage's "Rose of Sharon," guitar riffs sounded as if they were coming out of an old AM radio. Bass heavy songs like The Yin Yang Twins' "Whisper Song," were actually difficult to hear since the bass was nonexistent.
