CHAMPAGNE BOLLINGER AND JAMES BOND,
A LEGENDARY COLLABORATION FOR FOUR DECADESChampagne Bollinger appeared for the very first time alongside James Bond in the novel by Ian Fleming Diamonds Are Forever published in 1956: Her Majesty’s secret servant could only choose the most British of all champagnes!
When in 1973 Albert R. “Cubby” Broccoli, one of the producers of the James Bond saga on screen met Christian Bizot, then President of Maison Bollinger, there began a lasting and unfailing friendship between the two families, which naturally led to a comfortable partnership between these two legendary figures who have a number of values in common: excellence, authenticity, a certain elegance, and even a touch of British composure.
For 40 years on screen, Bollinger, the champagne with an inimitable, uncompromising style, has been James Bond’s champagne, a key element in his seductive appeal to the fair sex and a symbol of his oh so British wit and sophistication.
“Bollinger? If it is a ‘69, you were expecting me.” - Moonraker, 1979
Bollinger 002 for 007
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of 007’s appearance on screen and the Bollinger / James Bond partnership, Champagne Bollinger has launched in 2012 a new limited edition of a special presentation box:
Chic, fun and inventive, just like the legendary secret agent, this presentation box has the shape of a Walther PPK silencer. Fans of the secret agent and of technological gadgets have enjoyed the box which opens by aligning the three figures 007 and by clicking on the gun logo button, revealing a bottle of Bollinger La Grande Année 2002, the most exceptional vintage in the last decade.
The bottle, adorned in shiny black and hot stamped silver, is a collector’s item in itself, an elegant celebration of the 50th anniversary of James Bond on screen. The guilloche pattern on the label and the cap is repeated on the box, a veiled reference to the grip of the pistol.
the Bollinger & 007 collector bullet
In 2008 on the occasion of the release of Quantum of Solace, Champagne Bollinger had created a memorable collector’s item designed by French designer Eric Berthes: a luxury box in the shape of a 65 cm long bullet of Walther PPK containing a magnum of Bollinger La Grande Année 1999 dressed in black and silver.
The inside of the bullet converted into a set of compartments in which a modern gentleman can store his personal accessories..Only 207 copies, each individually numbered, were produced.
