James Bond Sweden Nybro exclusive auction in
November in Stockholm.
In 1961 Bollinger RD sold for the first time. Because of this 50th
anniversary is now 12 people in the world have the chance to buy either
box containing 12 top vintages from these years, Sweden will have one of
these boxes. The auction takes place in connection with the monopoly's
beverage sale and Stockholm Auction network the 16 November 2011. Sold price
was EURO 6500, but is likely to be the final price is
much higher when the interest is high. All wines have degorgerats during
March 2011 in addition to Bollinger RD 1952 degorgerades 1969th.
Bollinger RD stands for Recently Disgorged and initiator was Lily
Bollinger who wanted to show the greatness of the wine stored for a long
time on its lees. The wine is made like a Bollinger La Grande Année,
but stays in the basement longer, giving it greater complexity. When you
buy a bottle of RD, it has been stored on the yeast for at least 8 years,
which is unusually long as the minimum requirement for champagne is 15
months. The wine has become known as including Prince Charles and Lady
Diana gave their wedding guests at the Bollinger RD 1973rd. Now there is
a chance to call home 12 vintages out this exclusive Champagne.

Efter skörden i september, oktober pressas saften försiktigt ur
druvorna så de inte tar färg av skalen.
Tillsatt jäst gör att ett alkoholhaltigt, osötat vin bildas i stora tunnor av stål. Särskilt utbildade provsmakare kallas in för att tillsammans med källarmästaren avgöra vilken vinblandning champagnen ska bestå av och om årets skörd håller för att göra en vintage (årgångschampagne). Vinet tappas på flaskor och socker och jäst tillsätts för en andra jäsning. Det bubblande vinet lagras liggande i vinkällare. Flaskorna måste försiktigt skruvas ett kvarts varv med jämna mellanrum så att sedimentet som jästen bildar gradvis sjunker ner i flaskhalsen. Enligt fransk lag måste champagnen lagras i minst 15 månader. För vintage krävs minst 3 år. Sedan fryses flaskhalsen ner så att enbart sedimentet poppar ut när man öppnar flaskan. En liten mängd sötad sprit, liqueur de dosage, tillsätts som avgör hur söt champagnen kommer att bli. Flaskan korkas och läggs tillbaka i vinkällaren för att utveckla sin arom i några månader. Slutligen får flaskan etikett och packas ner i kartonger. Champagnen blir godare av att lagras, men det är ingen idé att göra själv hemma eftersom processen avstannar i samma ögonblick sedimentet tas bort. Drycken serveras bäst i samma temperatur som nere i vinkällaren, med andra ord runt 10 grader. |

All vintages disgorged on March 7th, 2011 except 1952 which is

Vid en försäljning2002 snittade 1966 och 1975 RD på €60 respektive €55. Bara 3 flaskor av 1985an har hittills sålts i år och har snittat på €180. Likviditeten har varit bättre för 1979:or och 21 flaskor har salts runt €175. 1990:orna har ett snit på €135 på de 52 flaskor som sålts under 2011. Ingen 1988 har sålts sedan 2009 då de gick för €75+. Tre dussin 1995or gick under klubban 2010 för €90 per flaska. De i särklass mest sålda av dessa Bollinger RD är 1996; 133 flaskor såldes 2010 för €100. 1997 går typiskt nog för €75 för att ingen någonsin sett dem i ett auktionsrum efter 2009. Totalen av dessa historiska priser ligger på €1,720 dvs mycket under de €5,600 - €6.800 som bedömningen är här. Men å andra sidan kommer champagnerna i den här lotten att vara annorlunda än andra som disgorgerats vid olika tillfällen.

Perhaps General Koskov was not the most appropriate person to promote Bollinger RD in the James Bond film “Licensed To Kill”. But hey, there is nothing to say that baddies lack connoisseurship. Is there? Early July and I am at the rejuvenated “Jules Verne” restaurant somewhere near the troposphere of the Eiffel Tower, which 007-fans will recall, formed the backdrop for the opening scene of “A View To A Kill”. Roger Moore, in his last outing as Bond, is dining at the restaurant and orders a bottle of Bollinger 1975 before his contact is inconveniently assassinated by a poisoned fishing rod. He pursues the ninja assassin up three million stairs, which is not easy when you are a pensioner, but Grace Jones (for it is she) escapes by leaping from the top of the tower. R.D. (‘recently disgorged’) was proposed for the first time by Madame Bollinger in 1961 on the basis of the 1952 vintage. This concept is unique, absolutely without equivalent in Champagne.In terms of blending, R.D. is a Grand Annee, but a Grande Annee that has aged in the Bollinger cellars for a longer period: a minimum of eight years and up to 20-25 years.This slow maturation allows for reinforcing the aromatic subtlety and complexity of the wine, developing a highly original style recognised and appreciated by connoisseurs of great wines.R.D. is also a recent disgorging that guarantees unique freshness and vivacity as regards the wine’s venerable age and which allows the aromas to fully express themselves.In order to inform the consumer the disgorging date is printed on the label.By nature, the R.D. boasts a nearly-unlimited capacity for conservation, before of after disgorging.R.D. is an ‘extra-brut’, i.e. the dosage is very low (less than 5 grammes of sugar per litre).

The tasting of recently disgorged Bollinger’s was held to celebrate fifty years since the release of the debut 1952. It was tutored by chef de cave Mathieu Kauffmann and he began with an overview of Bollinger RD…“There have been 27 vintages of RD starting with the 1952
released in 1961. It starts in the vineyard with the selection of the
grapes. We press the grapes, make the vinification and do the malolactic
vinification in barrels. We do the first tasting after racking and a
second tasting in December as we prepare the assemblage. Each vintage
there are about 2,000 barrels and choose the best ones.”
