The mysterious Dr. No, like so many of the adversaries Bond is to meet in future missions, is civilised and gracious upon first meeting. Operating from a hidden underground lair with a stunning glass observator looking out onto the undersea world, No's immediate objective is to sabotage an American missile launch - and Bond must destroy the control centre to prevent disaster.

As with many of the Bond villains, Dr. No has a strange defining feature - he has metal hands. These prove to be his undoing when, unable to grip the steel legs of a sinking gantry in the control room, he is submerged in his own boiling reactor tank.
